February 2024
February brought a different leader: Android System WebView ranked first overall and was the only listed entry in the 1B–10B download range. Digital Wellbeing ranked second, while WeatherService ranked third.
Pinterest was fourth, followed by Samsung Calendar, My Files, Android Switch, モバイルFeliCaクライアント, Theme Store, and Separated Apps. The remaining nine entries were reported in the 100M–1B range.
The February list therefore combines a platform component, device utilities, a social discovery service, and a localized payment-related client name in one top-ten snapshot. The source report supplies the ranking and download bands, but not an explanation for why the order changed from January.

Media and streaming apps in the rankings
The Android app statistics include several media-related entries across the year.
Music ranked second overall in April, while Facebook ranked ninth. In May, WhatsApp Messenger ranked sixth, CapCut - Video Editor eighth, and YouCam Perfect - Photo Editor ninth. These entries cover music, social communication, short-form or general video editing, and photo editing.
December has the strongest concentration of streaming and connected-TV apps:
- Netflix ranked third overall.
- YouTube for Android TV ranked fourth.
- Prime Video ranked fifth.
- YouTube Music ranked ninth.
- Google app for Android TV ranked sixth.
- Android TV Core Services ranked seventh.
- Android TV Remote Service ranked tenth.
Each December entry in this group was reported in the 100M–1B range. > Media snapshot: In December 2024, Netflix, YouTube for Android TV, Prime Video, and YouTube Music all appeared in the overall top ten, each within the reported 100M–1B download band.
Android app download ranges and market signals
The download bands are broad, but they still create a clear top-level pattern. Across the 60 ranked entries, 59 fall within 100M–1B downloads. The two entries assigned to 1B–10B are Android System WebView in February and Google Play Services for AR in December.
That means the reports show two different kinds of scale:
- A large cluster of apps and services in the 100M–1B range.
- A smaller set of platform-related services in the 1B–10B range.
The 100M–1B group includes calendars, wellbeing tools, games, creative editors, messaging products, streaming services, and Android TV components. The 1B–10B entries are Android System WebView and Google Play Services for AR.
Because the ranges overlap many possible exact totals, it would be unsupported to calculate market share, growth rates, average downloads, or the difference between two apps inside the same band. It is also not possible from these entries alone to calculate a year-over-year change: the reports cover selected months in 2024 and do not supply comparable 2023 or 2025 observations.
For Media & Streaming analysis, the most defensible reading is therefore categorical. Streaming and connected-TV products are visibly present in December’s overall top ten, while earlier snapshots show adjacent media tools such as Music, Facebook, WhatsApp Messenger, CapCut, and YouCam Perfect. Their reported presence provides a useful view of which app types appeared among the leading entries in the named AppBrain monthly reports, without turning broad download bands into precise performance claims.
